This brewery derives its name from the first two atomic bombs detonated at the Nevada Test Site.
These two test explosions were codenamed after the military’s phonetic alphabet of the time, making them tests “Able” and “Baker”.
The experimentation at the Nevada Test Site led to the refining of the Atomic Bomb and the ushering in of the Nuclear Age. This was a notable time in Nevada as “Atomic Blast” viewing parties were commonplace and several “Miss Atomic” beauty queens were crowned. The Atomic Age influences their artwork and concepts while allowing them to give a respectful nod to Nevada’s unique state history.
The brewery has a mascot of sorts, the Atomic Duck. Legend has it, that a duck was the only animal to survive the Atomic tests conducted at the Nevada Test Site. That duck, bested the blasts, wandered off and waddled into history, becoming forever known as … the “Atomic Duck”.

Las Vegas’s Brewery Row
The brewery’s origins are familiar, like so many others, as it began with a group of friends experimenting with home brewing. From these humble beginnings, they expanded to participating in local events, even if the legality of such endeavors was questionable, before eventually taking the significant leap forward. In 2019, when the brewery emerged, Las Vegas had only a handful of craft breweries, making it a relatively small craft beer market. Choosing to establish the brewery in the city seemed logical, providing an opportunity for enthusiasts to explore and appreciate local craft beer. Since its inauguration, several other breweries have opened in the area, with several on the same street. This led to the city affectionately designating the area as “Brewery Row.”
Best Brewery in Las Vegas
As the brewery grew and began to build a following the city noticed as well. First, it dubbed the area the brewery was in as “Brewery Row.” Then Able Baker not only won Las Vegas Weekly’s Readers’ Choice award for “Best of Las Vegas” in the category of Best Brewery, but they won it 2 years in a row. Able Baker CEO, Randy Rohde commented “We are humbled and honored to receive this award and want to give a big thank you to all that voted for us.” He continued, “We’re proud to be a part of a craft beer scene in Las Vegas that is really beginning to flourish. With so many other great breweries in town now, it makes it that much more special to be considered the Best of Las Vegas by our local fans and those visiting our great city.”
